2W charger: a solution to replace unregulated linear power supplies

Overview
A flyback converter using LinkSwitch-LP has an output VI characteristic similar to an unregulated line frequency transformer power supply, but the output current is limited so that it does not exceed the maximum rated output power (peak power point). As the power supply is loaded from no load to the 2 W peak power point, the LNK564PN (U1) regulates the output voltage by "throwing" switching cycles using the current flowing into the feedback pin (FB). At the peak power point, the power supply provides more than 300 mA of load current when the voltage is above 5.7 V.
