MAXREFDES143# is an Internet of Things (IoT) embedded security reference design that protects industrial detection nodes through security authentication and network server notifications. The hardware includes peripheral modules and mbed platforms: the former serves as a protection sensor node, monitoring the operating temperature and the remaining life of the product (simulated through ambient light detection); the latter serves as a controller node, responsible for monitoring one or more sensor nodes. The design adopts a hierarchical structure. Each controller node collects data from connected sensor nodes and uploads it to the network server. The server is responsible for maintaining central records and necessary scheduling notifications. The mbed platform includes a Wi-Fi module, DS2465 coprocessor with 1-Wire® host function, LCD, LED, and buttons; the protection sensor node includes a DS28E15 security authenticator, DS7505 temperature sensor, and MAX44009 light sensor . The mbed platform communicates with the network server via the onboard Wi-Fi module and with the protected sensor nodes via I2C and 1-Wire interfaces. MAXREFDES143# is equipped with a standard shielded connector and can be quickly tested using mbed circuit boards such as MAX32600MBED#. The simplicity of the design ensures rapid integration into any star IoT network that requires the SHA-256 symmetric key algorithm to provide enhanced security with low overhead.
