Maxim's power supply experts designed and built a series of isolated industrial power supply reference designs, each of which efficiently converts 24V to voltage rails at various power levels. Each power supply is isolated using transformers available from multiple manufacturers worldwide, making transformer selection quick and easy. Each design is tested for load and line regulation, as well as efficiency and transient performance. All Maxim reference designs include BOMs, schematics, layout files, and Gerber files. In addition, circuit boards are available for purchase; most have through-hole pins, allowing for immediate board layout and accelerating initial product development.
MAXREFDES111# is a high-efficiency flyback topology 24V input, 5V/2W output (0.4A) power supply design. The design uses the MAX17498B, a peak-current-mode converter with an internal n-channel MOSFET switch. The entire circuit uses a 36mm x 20mm (1.4in x 0.8in) circuit board.
