MAXREFDES89# provides an ideal interface for developing brushed DC motors. Designed to be MBE® compatible , the Arduino® architecture platform for rapid development of brushed DC motor applications. The platform includes four MAX14871 full-bridge DC motor drivers, which can drive up to 4 motors. The MAX17501 DC-DC converter allows the system to operate from a single supply of 7V to 36V DC. Four MAX4704 4:1 multiplexers allow the MAX14871's current regulation mode to be set, while two MAX5387 digital potentiometers provide the ability to set the motor current limit. The MAX7300 GPIO expander enables connection of each motor driver circuit to an mbed-enabled microcontroller platform.
The following link provides mbed library files for supported platforms: MAX14871_Shield Library . The library files outline the interface details to the supported hardware of the reference design, allowing users to focus on their application.
MAXREFDES89# is a rapid development tool that gives users maximum flexibility during application development. In the final design, the MAX14871 may be the only device needed to drive the brushed DC motor and regulate the motor current.
