Industrial control , industrial automation, motor control and process automation applications often require binary/digital sensors and switches, and the system often requires many optocouplers to isolate sensor channels. The Corona (MAXREFDES12#) subsystem reference design provides front-end interface circuitry for programmable logic controller (PLC) digital input modules. This serialization feature greatly reduces the number of isolation optocouplers. The reference design supports high voltage input (up to 36V), power and data isolation - all in a small package. The Corona design integrates an eight-channel digital input level translator /serializer ( MAX31911 ), data isolator ( MAX14850 ), and H-bridge transformer driver ( MAX13256 ) for isolated power supply design. Corona digital input circuit solutions are mainly used for digital input modules in PLC, industrial automation, process automation and motor control applications.
