SC8815 is a synchronous buck-boost charge controller with I2C interface, which also supports reverse battery discharge. The chip supports 36V high-voltage operation on the VBAT battery side, so it can ensure the application of 1-6 lithium batteries when the adapter voltage is higher than, lower than, or equal to the battery voltage. When the working system requires battery to provide energy, SC8815 also supports reverse battery discharge, outputs the set voltage, and the maximum discharge voltage can reach 36V. Users can easily select the charging/discharging mode through the I2C interface, and set the charging current, charging voltage, reverse discharge voltage, current limit value, switching frequency and other parameters. The integrated 10-bit ADC allows users to detect and read the VBUS/VBAT voltage and current in real time. In addition, the SC8815 can also support plug-and-pull detection of adapters and devices, minimizing peripheral circuits and PCB space, greatly simplifying system design. . SC8815 supports internal current-limiting protection, over-voltage protection, output short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection, thus ensuring safety under various abnormal conditions. SC8815 is available in 32-pin 4x4 QFN package.
ESP32-C3 is equipped with a RISC-V 32-bit single-core processor with a clock frequency of up to 160 MHz. It has 22 programmable GPIO pins, built-in 400 KB SRAM, and supports multiple external flashes through SPI, Dual SPI, Quad SPI and QPI interfaces to meet the functional requirements of various IoT products.
The overall idea of the project is to use ESP32-C3 to control SC8815 through I2C, with a little trick to switch the current flow direction.
