MAXREFDES1150 is Maxim's smart pill bottle reference design for medical and various IoT applications. The design combines high-precision electronic scales with modern IoT communications to provide patients and doctors with medication monitoring and reminder services to safely monitor their medication intake. Additionally, users can extend this concept to other applications that require refilling and/or replenishing consumables. MAXREFDES1150 accepts initial configuration of pills or pills. The user inputs the initial value of the pill, the frequency and dosage of taking the pill through the mobile app interface. Auto-monitoring features can confirm that pills are taken at the right time, or send reminders at the right time. The design uses an audible buzzer as a reminder that the medicine bottle is tipped or inverted.
The 16-bit ADC MAX11213 is the core device of the MAXREFDES1150, which performs high-precision measurements of medicine bottle load cells and works easily with Arduino and Arm® Mbed Enabled™ platforms and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) modules. The MAXREFDES1150 is ideal for a variety of IoT measurement applications that require high-precision analog signal measurement and data transmission and reception. The design is connected to the Mbed® platform and is controlled by a processor. The MAXREFDES1150 circuit board is powered via the USB port, and the measurement circuitry is powered via the MAX6071 voltage reference, which enhances system accuracy. The reference design provides an Android APK that supports HMI technology. APK is used to configure tablet parameters and perform system initialization or update.
The MAXREFDES1150 includes microcontroller source code, allowing developers to extend it to other IoT applications by making minor firmware or hardware modifications. The board's compact design allows for quick evaluation or installation.
