75 W Digitally Controlled Constant Current LED Driver Reference Design
This reference design uses the ADP1051, a newly launched low-cost and highly integrated power supply chip from ADI, to control the energy conversion from input to output. This power supply design comprehensively considers factors of efficiency and cost, and designs a solution with optimal efficiency and cost at the 400W power level. It is suitable for power amplifier power supply systems of wireless communication base stations and railway power supply systems in the industrial field.

REF_ICL8810_LED_43W_BM This 43 W reference design uses Infineon's high power factor flyback controller ICL8810. The evaluation board is a constant voltage (CV) secondary side regulation (SSR) system designed for use with a constant current (CC) converter for LED lighting applications. Two-stage topologies are becoming increasingly popular due to the easy scalability of primary-side power and secondary-side characteristics. The REF_ICL8810_LED_43W_BM solution features a plug-and-play design and can be used with the secondary-side DC/DC evaluation board. As a default, the reference design board is equipped with a depletion mode MOSFET BSS126I based startup circuit on a small adapter board. This setup will significantly reduce standby losses. If low standby power consumption is not required, the startup circuit can be changed to a resistive startup design. This reference design comes with two conditioning circuits. Both are plug-and-play solutions, but at least one circuit must be connected to the motherboard. There is a cost trade-off between the two evaluation boards; the TL431 evaluation board is lower cost and has good standby performance, while the op amp board exhibits excellent overall performance at the 30 mW power level. With its benchmark power factor correction and total harmonic distortion performance at full and light load conditions, the ICL8800 supports window driver and platform designs. In addition, the IC combines excellent efficiency with low EMI characteristics without compromising light quality.
