Overview

TIDA-00987 is a reference design for automotive media ports requiring data transmission. This design supports USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 data via the 15W USB Type-C™ port. Customers can accelerate their media port systems by leveraging a complete reference design that includes AEC-Q100 compliant CISPR 25 Category 5 tested analog integrated circuits (ICs). This design creates a reliable and flexible solution that allows the system to charge USB Type-C and legacy devices in a small 1 x 2.5-inch solution.

  • ● The LM74610-Q1 smart diode emulates an ideal diode rectifier and protects downstream devices from reverse polarity conditions.
  • ● TPS25810-Q1 and TPS254900-Q1 provide negotiation for CC1/CC2 and D+/D- lines respectively to charge USB Type-C or legacy downstream devices.
  • ● Small solution size, based on typical media interface board dimensions (2.5 x 1 inch).
  • ● Components in this system provide short-to-battery protection and load-dump protection against input transient voltages up to 40V.
  • ● By combining HD3SS3212 with TPD4E05U06-Q1 and an optimized layout, this design demonstrates compatibility between SuperSpeed ​​and USB Type-C connectors without signal degradation.
  • ● The automotive-grade LM53635-Q1 uses its unique Hotrod package to optimize power and reduce parasitics to mitigate EMI without interfering with AM or FM band frequencies.
